2008 New York State Amateur Hockey Association 14 and Under Boys Tier I Championship

Rochester Alliance Wins 2008 NYSAHA U14 Championship!

JT Stenglein scored with an assist from Justin Coachman after just 22 seconds of overtime to give the Rochester Alliance a 5-4 victory over the Syracuse Stars in the championship game of the 2008 NYSAHA U14 tournament on Sunday evening, March 9. They will now move to represent the New York District in the USA hockey national U14 tournament in Hackensack, NJ.

The Perinton Youth Hockey Association is the host of the 2008 New York State Boys 14 and Under (also known as the Bantam level) Tier I Hockey Championships in Rochester, New York on March 7-9, 2008.

The 2008 NYSAHA U14 Tier I Championship is a three day event held to crown the the New York State Tier I 'Bantam' Champion. The Champion will qualify to compete in the USA Hockey U14 national tournament which will be held April 2-6, 2008 at the Ice House in Hackensack, NJ.

Eight teams have qualified for the 2008 tournament. From the Eastern Section of USA Hockey's New York District are the Long Island Royals and the Westchester Express. The lone representative of the Central Section is the Syracuse Stars. There are five qualifying teams from the Western Section: West Seneca Wings, Rochester Alliance, Wheatfield Blades, Amherst Knights and the Monroe County. There is no representative from the Northern Section this year. The number of qualifying teams from each section is based upon the number of Tier 1 teams that compete in the section during the regular season. All games in the NYSAHA Boys U14 Tier I Championship Tournament will be played at the Genesee Valley Park Ice Rink in Rochester, NY

The event will be hosted by the Perinton Youth Hockey Association and sanctioned by  
New York State Amateur Hockey Association.
